Halvorsen’s started building boats in 1887, a tradition which continues through 5 generations. In 1925 the family moved to Australia, designing and constructing the finest pleasure craft built in the country. This ceased in 1980, while the family concentrated building Island Gypsy’s and Kong & Halvorsen’s in Asia. Now Halvorsen’s have returned to build boats in Australia. A special boat was designed by Harvey Halvorsen to mark this event, the all new Halvorsen 38' Gourmet Cruiser®. With classic Halvorsen lines reminiscent of 'Halvo’s' of yesteryear, the new 38' while available with twin engines and a flying bridge, is offered as standard with a single Yanmar diesel and three layout options. She was designed to be much more than a day boat, and is eminently suitable for long cruising and spending glorious days and nights, afloat. For this reason we call her a 'Gourmet Cruiser®'. Champagne & caviar rather than beer and sandwiches.
Big brother to our already successful 32' Gourmet Cruiser® built in Asia, this new 38' has a planing hull and is expected to run in the 25 knots range. She will be fully moulded with enough teak trim to make her look like a real boat. Material used will be the finest available, along with teak interiors and teak and holly soles. Unique classy and beautiful, coupled with a pedigree second to none. Heady stuff to be sure. But then: HALVORSEN BUILD REAL BOATS.
Single stateroom and Galley down arrangement
The Halvorsen 38 Gourmet Cruiser® is also available with an optional flying Bridge, complete with full controls. Access to the flying bridge will be via an angled ladder from the cockpit. All decks are moulded non skid pattern.
