Debut Suzuki 4 strokes

Triple debut of Suzuki cutting edge four strokes

Suzuki has announced the launch of three new four stroke models in 2009; setting a new standard for compact lightweight performance.

The all-new DF70, DF80, and DF90 will offer new options in power and performance to Australian boaties, with the DF90 slated to be the lightest, smallest 4-stroke outboard in its class.

All three new engines will be available in Australia and New Zealand from Spring 2008 and will be available exclusively through the Suzuki Marine dealer network.

The 80-horsepower DF80 is an entirely new entry for Suzuki Marine, opening up even more options for boat owners to find the perfect combination of power, price and performance.

Haines Suzuki Marine general manager, Greg Haines said the three new engines would redefine power options in the Australian and New Zealand market.

“At the core of each of these new 4-strokes is a new, more compact 4-cylinder Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) powerhead with four-valves-per-cylinder and 1502 cm3 (91.7 cu. in.) displacement.

“All three models will feature many of the technical advancements Suzuki pioneered in the 4-stroke category, including digital sequential electronic fuel injection and solid state ignition for improved performance and efficiency,” Greg Haines said.
Additional features of the new engines include Suzuki’s proven offset drive shaft, a powerful 2.59:1 final drive ratio for quick hole shots and optimal top-end performance as well as a zero-maintenance self adjusting timing chain.

The new DF70/80/90 4-strokes will also feature a powerful 30-amp alternator to provide all the power boaties need for all-day operation of pumps, marine electronics and other accessories.

Available in 20- and 25-inch shaft versions, this combination of size, balance and smooth power makes the new DF100 ideal for a wide range of applications, including small centre consoles, fishing vessels, runabouts, aluminium boats and recreational craft.
Greg Haines said Suzuki’s compact powerhead and offset driveshaft made the DF90 the smallest and lightest outboard in the 90-horsepower category.

“With an engine height of 147.9 cm, this new outboard is almost eight centimetres shorter than Suzuki’s previous 90-horsepower 4-stroke — and up to twenty three centimetres shorter than competitive models.

“This means easy installation and more room around the transom for fishing and other activities.
“Suzuki engineers set out to develop outboard motors that represent all we’ve learned. Once again, Suzuki’s technology is set to give our 4-strokes the edge when it comes to performance,” Greg Haines said.

The compact size and light weight of the DF70, DF80, and DF90 make them an ideal power match for a wide variety of boats, including sport fishing boats, RIBs, inflatable’s and aluminium boats.

As Australia’s fastest growing outboard engine brand, Suzuki offers a full range of advanced 4-stroke outboards from a small and portable 2.5 horsepower all the way up to the class-leading Big Block 300 horsepower V6.
