Adjust-A-Flex ® Mounts


When it comes to smooth, vibration-free performance in an inboard boat, nothing is more important than the engine mounting system. While stern-drives and outboards use the transom to convey the power to the boat, center-mounted inboards rely on the rear mounts to absorb the energy from the propeller and propel the boat forward. Therefore, an inboard engine manufacturer's first engineering concern is to design a strong and efficient mounting system.
Let's define the properties of the perfect engine mount:

When the engine is first installed, it must be perfectly aligned with the propeller shaft to a ensure a vibration-free ride. Therefore, it must be micro-adjustable to achieve this alignment. PCM's Adjust-A-Flex mounts offer the highest degree of adjustability in the industry.
After installation, the mounts must be able to lock in and maintain the precise alignment for years. PCM's mounts are larger, more robust and extremely heavy-duty to ensure continuing perfect shaft alignment.

Sooner or, in PCM's case, later, the engine will have to be realigned as part of routine maintenance. Therefore, the mounts must be constructed of non-corrosive metals in order to remain easily adjustable. The adjustable components of PCM's mounts are non-corrosive stainless steel, rather than plated steel which is subject to rust and galvanic corrosion.

The mounting system must be able to dampen and absorb vibration to keep it from being transferred to the hull through the stringer system. PCM uses large rubber isolators at both the top and bottom of each mount to better isolate the vibration.
 

Fuel Control Cell

Electronic fuel injection (EFI) provides improved drive-ability, efficiency and performance. Today's high performance EFI engines require the utmost in fuel delivery systems. Constant fuel flow to the injectors must be guaranteed, regardless of how choppy the water can get or how tight the turn. Therefore, the marine engineer is challenged to find a way to ensure fuel flow without the need for a specially designed fuel tank or other apparatus.

PCM is the only manufacturer in the marine industry to answer this challenge with the exclusive, patented Fuel Control Cell (FCC), which provides important features and benefits not found anywhere else. Let's define the perfect fuel delivery system:

It must eliminate the possibility of fuel starvation and vapor lock, regardless of the marine environment. It must filter both contaminate fuel particles and water to protect the high pressure fuel pump, the injectors and the entire fuel system. It must be easily accessed for service and routine maintenance.

Compare the FCC with the fuel systems of the competition: we have a two-pump system and fuel reservoir to ensure fuel delivery, versus one pump and no reservoir. We use a Raycor Aqua Bloc 10-micron fuel filter to protect both the engine and fuel pump, versus in some cases, no filter at all. The FCC is a conveniently mounted cannister for easy service, versus a single pump located in a remote area.

 

Power Plus Transmission ®

The New Power Plus Vee for Wakeboarding

Today's sport-specific wakeboard boats are too far advanced to rely on V-Drives that were invented decades ago for the cruiser and offshore markets. Those designs are too big, too loud and just plain too old. PCM is the first manufacturer to design a V-Drive propulsion system specifically for unique demands of the wakeboard boat.

The PP-V's compact design allows for more below deck space (ie ballast), along with increased room in the interior.
It's unique positive mounting angle allows the engine to sit close to level during wakeboard runs, eliminating oil starvation, improving efficiency and adding durability.
The through-shaft design makes service and realignment simple.

The AGMA Grade 11 gears found in helicopter gear boxes and in your PCM Power Plus Vee are the most durable available.
Paired with the PCM Power Plus, shifting is smooth and super-quiet -- in forward and reverse.


High Amp Alternator

All PCM engines come standard with a 100 amp alternator to handle today’s heavy electrical load. Our High Amp Alternators can put out up to 40% more electrical output than is available from the competition.

 

Easy Maintenance

Thanks to PCM’s engine management system and multiport fuel injection, conventional tune-ups are a thing of the past. Many aspects of our design lend themselves to ease of maintenance on your PCM engine. Remote oil filter and exclusive modular raw water pump design make routine maintenance the easiest in the industry.

 

PCM Digital Throttle Control

PCM also provides Digital Throttle Control (DTC) as a standard feature on every PCM EFI engine. DTC provides smooth, instantaneous and constant throttle response throughout the RPM range and it interfaces electronically with optional speed control devices for an integrated electronic system.
