BENETEAU entered the large Sport Cruiser segment of the market in December 2008 with the launch of the MonteCarlo 47 Hard Top. Its interior space and elegant, thoroughbred lines made it an instant success. The range is now being extended again with the launch of the MonteCarlo 47 FLY: a MonteCarlo 47 with a large sunbathing terrace. The external cockpit galley unit has been cleverly converted to provide access to the flybridge.

Infinite multi-functionality on deck and inside
The award-winning designer of the MonteCarlo range Pierangelo Andreani has drawn a very beautiful new design in true Mediterranean style with features to suit every taste and need. The overall layout of the MonteCarlo 47 FLY offers two very special living spaces: the cockpit and the luxuriously-appointed flybridge

• On deck: relaxation in the sun.

- The flybridge incorporates two distinct areas: the helm station and the convertible 6-person saloon. The driver's seat is on the centreline of the boat, and the instrument panel features a full duplicate set of navigation instruments. To the left is the co-driver’s seat, and to the right a large lounger-style sunbathing platform with a pullout fridge beneath. Behind is the spacious saloon with bench seating and full backrests for at least six diners. For safety, access to and from the flybridge is fully protected. Lastly, the visually-appealing arch carrying the radar and antennas is raised for even greater comfort.

- With its external galley unit, the enormous cockpit is big enough for all the crew to relax together. The external saloon converts into a sunbathing platform. The interior is entered via a wide 3-panel glazed door. The tender garage beneath the cockpit is so large that the outboard can be left in place. The generous aft sunbathing platform offers convenient and safe access to the water.

- The forward king-size sunbathing platform (2 x 1.90 metres) is upholstered in the latest Exclusive collections (BENETEAU 2009).

• Inside: generously-luxurious living spaces
Everything on board is designed to make life easier:
- excellent head height in common with all the boats in this range
- generous amounts of space, especially in the owner’s cabin, which occupies the full width of the boat and is flooded with light from two large side windows

Perfect balance between hull and propulsion
The MonteCarlo 47 hull design has been developed in close co-operation with Volvo Penta to accommodate its IPS (Intelligent Propulsion System) and therefore optimise the power of its pod drives and the behaviour of the boat. The propulsion system offered is the Volvo IPS 600 with two D6 435 HP diesels. The new cylinder block used on the D6 unit provides improved sound insulation. The steering system is electrically-powered, with joystick control for berthing manoeuvres

New HD Sports rated for 60 hp outboard!

Quicksilver is offering a whole new dimension of boating options and excitement, with its brand new 470 Heavy Duty Sports inflatable boat which is rated to handle a 60hp outboard.

With a maximum load carrying capacity of 1,800kg (or up to 11 people) it's the perfect option for diving enthusiasts.

"This new 470 Sports is based on the TM 470 which we produce for military use, so that tells you a lot about its capabilities," said Ian Stanley, Product Manager - Quicksilver Inflatables.

"It really is ideal for diving or fishing. You can go as a group, carry all your gear and get there fast - it's perfect.

"There are also stainless steel towing eyes in the reinforced transom so it's fantastic for tow sports."

While the 470 Sports is rated to handle a 60hp outboard, it will still perform beautifully with a 40hp TwoStroke or FourStroke.

The 470 Heavy Duty Sports has a non-slip aluminium floor for added strength and stability, while an inflatable v-shaped keel and special speed tube deliver impressive handling characteristics.

Multiple air chambers provide additional safety and the boat is available in either Duratex or Hypalon fabric - both super-tough materials which offer excellent resistance to cuts and abrasions - with double layer wear pads for even more protection.

The 470 Heavy Duty Sports also boasts easily accessible internal lifting eyes which are ideal davit lifting points, air valves with a spring-loaded quick seal system, and ample grab ropes for easy exit and entry from the water.

New Quicksilver Dinghies - perfect for people on (or off) the road
 

Quicksilver, the world leader in Inflatable Boats, has created a new range of Dinghies which are ideal for 4x4 and caravan enthusiasts.

The new Dinghies are smaller, lighter and easier to prep-and-store than ever before - but they are still safe, stable and heaps of fun. They are also priced to please.
The 200 Dinghy and the 240 Dinghy weigh in at a paltry 19 and 22 kilograms respectively and roll up into a bag which is only 1 metre long!

"If you want to go fishing, cross a river, or see the sights from the water, these Dinghies are simply ideal to keep in the back of a 4x4 or tucked away in a caravan," said Ian Stanley, Product Manager - Quicksilver Inflatables.

To ensure the Dinghies are safe, Quicksilver has constructed them with four air chambers - two on the sides, one for the keel and another for the floor.
"The inflatable floor is comfortable to sit on and it makes the Dinghy very easy to get ready," Ian said.

The 200 Dinghy can carry a 255 kilogram load and a 2.5 hp outboard, while the 240 Dinghy can handle up to 315 kilograms and a 3.5 hp motor.
Made of Mehler Haku PVC, the Quicksilver Dinghies have thermowelded seams (not glued) which guarantee a consistent joint which is actually stronger than the material itself. Mehler Haku PVC offers long-life, being long-term UV resistant and strong enough to withstand cuts, abrasions and general wear and tear.
The 200 and 240 Dinghies also come with a range of unique features and accessories including excellent quality fold down rowlocks for easy storage of oars and a durable grab rope.

The awesome 1900 Bluewater is the latest release from the Tournament Pleasure Boats stable. The 1900 Bluewater has been developed using knowledge and feed back accumulated over years of boat building experience to give you, which in our opinion would arguably be the best 5.8 metre half cabin fishing boat in Australia.

With 4.5 sq metres of cockpit space and 1.9 metre bunks every bit of space in the 1900 Bluewater has been utilized to its fullest capacity.

The Tomahawk Centre Cabin has a raised sheer line and a wider beam, giving even better access around the cabin. With the fastback transom and transom door with ladder fitted as standard, the Tomahawk centre cabin makes this boat a great all rounder. The reverse chine hull with extra hull weight also adds even greater stability at rest. If you love serious off shore fishing then this boat is definitely worth a serious look at.

Nimbus now powered by electricity
 

(Stockholm) Today the boat builders, Nimbus Boats, revealed the world’s first electrically powered boat for the commercial market. Nimbus 27 E-power is 27 feet long, has a cruising speed of 22 knots and takes 4 hours for a full charge.
The price of a “full tank”: 5 euro.

*We are the first boat builders in the world to take a large, electrically powered boat from the drawing board to the market,’ said Nimbus Boats managing director, Magnus Andersson.

Nimbus 27 E-power has been developed in collaboration with Electroengine AB, a company that develops solutions for electrical power in different kinds of vehicle, including private cars. ‘Nimbus shall be the best in the world in the environment segment. The electrically powered boat establishes our lead. We are now showing the way in the development of pro-environmental boats, without losing any comfort or performance,’ said Magnus Andersson.

Performance is close to fossil fuel driven boats. A fully charged Nimbus 27 E-power has a range of up to 20 nautical miles, or 37 kilometres, at a cruising speed of 22 knots. Top speed is 27 knots. The lifetime of the batteries is calculated at 3000 charges, or more than 10 years’ use. ‘The new generation of batteries, which will be with us soon, will probably allow us to double the range. The electrically powered boat will then become a serious contender for fossil fuel driven boats,’ said Thomas Bergfjord, managing director Electroengine AB, and expects the electrically powered engine to become the engine of the future on both land and sea.
‘The electrically powered boat gives out zero emissions when being driven by electricity and far less maintenance is needed than for a diesel engine. The batteries charge up in three hours from a 3-phase 400V/32 A power point, and can also be charged using a standard 220V power point in 28 hours.

Magnus expects interest in the elec trically powered boat to be considerable, although because up until now there has been no feasible alternative, there’s not much data to go on. ‘By creating a new market and developing the pro-environmental boats of the future we are taking a premeditated risk. Initially, the price is going to be 30 to 40 percent higher than for an equivalent diesel powered boat, but because running and maintenance costs are much lower, the Nimbus 27 E-power will, in the long term, be a good buy and good for the environment. The Nimbus 27 E-power will be built at the Nimbus Boats yards in Mariestad, Storebro and Ryds. ‘The technology is not confined to Nimbus 27 E-power, but can be fitted in our other boat brands, such as Ryds and Paragon. And we hope that this will come to be so,’ said Magnus Andersson.

The NEW 35 Trawler!
 

We took our tried and true 34 Trawler and Pilot 34, listened to your feedback, and developed a completely new and improved interior layout. The result? The brand new 35 Trawler! We know many Mainship customers are cruising couples, and you told us that you wanted a medium size trawler that had a second stateroom and a galley up design. Entering the 35 Trawler salon, many enhancements will be very evident. First, the fully-outfitted galley is located in the aft port corner of the salon.

This location results from the new raised dinette area just forward, which provides stand-up headroom in the guest stateroom below. The galley, which features a 2 burner electric stove, microwave, AC/DC Refrigerator/freezer and Corian® countertops, features an expansive window view as well. Forward, the raised dinette has a wonderful view. A sofa with optional sleeper or lounge chairs completes the salon aft to starboard, and the lower helm lies just forward of this area.The companionway leads below to the new portside guest stateroom.

This cabin features walk-in headroom at the foot of the berth and hanging locker area. In addition, the pillow end of the bed sports two and a half feet of headroom. This layout will work well for couples, families or charter boat companies as the second stateroom provides not only extra accommodations, but excellent additonal storage area.The cruising range of the Mainship Trawler line is outstanding, and the 35 will be no exception. Power options include a V-drive single Yanmar 380 hp diesel or a single gas engine.
 

Splashing This January:
The NEW Pilot 35! 

Building on the success of our tried and true Pilot™34 design, Mainship has enhanced the livability and functionality of the design with several key improvements and now introduces the new Pilot™35. A combination of both customer and dealer feedback was tapped in the development of the new model, so the new Pilot™35 draws from the popular earlier model by utilizing the same hull, but with a new deck and interior layout.

The salon area features UltraLeather™ seating with two opposing settees, and the cherry plank flooring provides a durable, beautiful sole. The forward berth area has now been transformed to a full stateroom with sliding pocket doors for privacy. The berth has been upsized to a queen as opposed to the prior Pilot’s smaller V-berth, and there is generous storage space in two cedar-lined hanging lockers and centerline berth drawers. Both areas are well-lit and ventilated by the opening, screened portlights.

The new Pilot™35 features a second cabin with an athwartships double berth. Most notably, this guest stateroom features full walk-in headroom at the entry/hanging locker area. As with all Mainship yachts, storage is plentiful in this cabin and the hanging locker is cedar-lined. An opening, screened portlight provides ventilation and lights the area when the standard high intensity reading lights are not in use.
To starboard, the new Pilot™35 features a larger head. In this area, the space has been increased to incorporate a shower compartment enclosed by hinged plexiglass walls. The vanity has a Corian® top.

Mainship’s sundeck galley became a hallmark of the Pilot line with last year’s introduction of the Pilot™31, and the new Pilot™35 makes use of this alfresco layout as well. Located on the starboard side of the helm deck, the sundeck galley is fully equipped, sporting a two burner electric stove, microwave oven, AC/DC refrigerator/freezer, stainless steel sink, and extra storage under the Corian® countertop. Portside helm deck seating options include a dinette or an L-shaped lounge.
Power options will include a V-drive single Yanmar 380 hp diesel or a single gas engine.

Cruise in comfort and style
Trawler owners today are on a mission. They are looking for boats that set up for cruising the Great Circle Route, navigating to Alaska and puttering through the British Isles.To be sure, this requires a sea worthy boat, but it also requires a comfortable salon for living and entertaining. It mandates staterooms and heads that are built for cruising families and couples, not for glitz at a boat show. Many Asian trawler builders shoehorn a lot of living space in a salon, Pilot House and forward stateroom(s). The problem is that you are climbing or going down steep stairs from sunrise to sunset and at the end of the day you are exhausted. That is why we have the salon on one level and the staterooms just two steps down - we build cruising boats, not jogging trails.
 
The salon has a two person helm chair and comfortable L shaped settee to stbd. The settee converts to a sleeper sofa (no need to purchase an optional pull out unit). On the port side are two leather recliners and a 26" flat panel TV (tied into the Bose Stereo sound system). Open the two aft salon doors, breathe in the fresh air and  wind down after a long day's run or entertain - you can do both on the Expedition Trawler. The galley is conveniently located on the same level, port side forward for ease in serving a party or for just the two of you.
 
Retire to a queen size bed (with innerspring mattress) in the master stateroom. Warm cherry wood lockers with cedar lined interiors sized to meet you needs are what you expect and what Mainship gives you. There is no need to climb up into a high perched bed just to get some sleep. Lighting, a deck hatch with screen and shade, storage and a large molded fiberglass head are what you expect and get for a boat built for the mission. The guest stateroom has twin beds and has been used as an additional locker, full time sewing room or even a bedroom.
 
Mainship is known for its easy access through the transom door, wide deck walkways for ease in handling the lines and the first company to use stairs instead of ladders to get to the bridge.  The bridge is the largest in its class, seats eight in comfort and offers a Summer Kitchen on the aft deck of the flybridge. Many of our owners cook their evening meals there and enjoy watching the sun go do day after day.Economy of operation and speed are also a hall mark of Mainship. With single electronic engine options of 380 and 440 horsepower or twin 260's, you can loaf along at 7 knots, make some serious mileage at 13 -15 knots with the singles or run to 17 plus knots with the twins. You choose. The bow thruster is standard with the single engine and more and more of our customers are adding the stern thruster also. Make your departures and arrivals fun and easy for all.

Recently the Black Watch 28 EX was released. Boasting a flush cockpit sole and a roomier cabin, the Black Watch 28 EX sports cruiser is the perfect compromise for the fisherman who wants to fish or the recreational boat owner who wants to cruise the waterways with family and friends.

Powering options consist of either petrol or diesel sterndrive, with single prop drive installation. In all configurations the Black Watch 28 EX outperforms in her class with lively throttle response and excellent manoeuvrability. The hull design gives a dry and soft riding experience every time she ventures to waters.

The cockpit layout is large with great room for both the optional rear lounge with table or replace with a medium tackle game chair. Port and starboard of the engine room is a large removable under floor locker, which allows complete access to all sides. The transom above sole livewell is a great feature and can be used for an icebox. The helm position features port and starboard helm seats incorporating aft facing lounges with storage below. With ample storage available you can pack a comfortable weekend away. When seated at the helm you will notice the excellent visibility and ergonomic layout giving plenty of space to mount the latest electronic technology. Protection from the weather is available in either the standard soft-top or stainless bimini targa or you may upgrade to the hardtop with clears.

The interior layout flows smoothly from the galley to the dinette, which when needed coverts into a double berth. The galley features an elegant granite finish, with a 12V refrigerator, the bathroom is on the starboard side and features a large sized toilet and shower facility with modern hand basin and cupboard space. Water Sports Tower w/Sunshade - From it’s heavy gauge anodized polished aluminum stock to precision machined billet fittings and joints this tower is pro-athlete strong with lifelong good looks. And not a single unsightly weld in site. The perfectly integrated racks to port and starboard carry your four favorite boards in complete security. Solid. Rattle free. Then with a quick release of a swivel lock the racks swing 180º inboard for safe access. Above, the accessory crossbar with LED cockpit lighting is pre-wired for optional tower spot lights and speakers, while the rigid mount sunshade has cockpit comfort covered. Canvas is color matched, of course.

Exterior Graphics - The look begins with a split gelcoat hull design available in any combination of standard Cobalt gelcoat colors. Then comes the chrome silver WSS hull crystal cap emblems and transom Water Sports Series badge. And for the finishing touch we’re introducing new three inch black chrome COBALT insignias in an edgy chiseled style.
Interior Styling - WSS styling continues on the interior with a new black powder coat to instrument and glove box panels. The glove box proudly displays the Water Sports Series badge, while the helm is dressed with extended brushed aluminum gauge bezels, and an upgraded black leather and polished stainless steering wheel. Elsewhere, the upholstery offers new owners a choice of color matched piping.

With all the creature comforts of far larger boats, accented by megayacht-standard custom cabinetry, the 373 makes every best possible use of interior space.  Case in point: the two full beds with conventional mattresses in lieu of the convertible cushions of a settee that other manufacturers term a “midberth.”  A solid panel secludes the master stateroom, opening and airing the cabin.  The overall efficiency and roominess of interior spaces arise in large part from Cobalt’s willingness to use multiple, complex molds in the fabrication of parts, leading to designs simply not possible to manufacturers restricted by their insistence on simple, unimaginative molding.Designed and engineered to exacting specifications for open water performance and saltwater durability, the 373 has been built ready to take on the traffic in coastal waters and inland lakes alike.

Where competitors are quick to speak of “value-added engineering,” a euphemism for the subtraction of the very best materials from a boat’s construction in an effort to keep costs down, Cobalt has beefed the 373’s design, calling for high technology in both materials and their application. The full-length stringer system has been reinforced with carbon fiber, laid up with vinyl ester resins, the solid fiberglass, Kevlar®-strengthened hull bottom a full ¾” thick. The structural bulkheads, of total composite construction, are vacuum-infused. Whalebones compound overall sturdiness.
