Lewis Marine Goes Sole Yamaha
Lewis Marine in Hobart has announced that it has made a 100% commitment to the Yamaha brand of outboard engines. For business owner Hughie Lewis, the decision to exclusively stock the Yamaha brand is a landmark resolution.
“We are about to embark on an exciting new growth program with expansive new premises opening in 2008,” Hughie Lewis said.
“This is the right time to put all of our resources behind Yamaha and present just one outboard brand, the premier brand, to our customers.”
Lewis Marine was established in 1982 and traded up until 2001 as an Evinrude dealer. When Outboard Marine Corporation went into bankruptcy, Lewis Marine was appointed a Yamaha dealer.
“In 2001 Yamaha had both two stroke and four stroke outboard models and we quickly evolved to become a predominantly Yamaha dealer. We kept the Evinrude brand largely to keep servicing our older customers with workshop support.”
“Inevitably we had been sitting on the fence for a long time, avoiding the obvious decision that had to be carried through. With the relocation now coming to a reality in the coming year, we decided to put all of our effort behind the brand we believe is the best.”
“The Yamaha brand is just fantastic,” Hughie said.
“There are no problems. We just fit the Yamaha outboards and our customers go boating; trouble free. The Yamaha product is excellent and the range of 2 stroke and 4 stroke models is first rate. And the back up with parts and technical support is also superb.”
Plans for Lewis Marine to relocate to a new 2.8 hectare waterfront site near the Hobart airport are well advanced. The new site will open mid 2008 and will have a massive undercover showroom with 40 boats on display plus a 6-bay service workshop.

Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers. The Yamaha range comprises trusty and dependable two stroke models from 2hp to 200hp, High Pressure Direct Injection VMAX models from 150hp to 200hp and low emission fuel efficient four stroke models from 2.5hp to the world’s largest production outboard- the 350hp V8 Yamaha F350.
